Pop. 60. In the Town of Bracebridge, Dist. Mun. of Muskoka on Black R., 2 km S of Hwy 118, 30 km SE of Bracebridge.
The community was named in 1870 to honour Philip Michael Scott Vankoughnet (1823-1889) who was minister of agriculture for the province of Canada from 1856-1858 and commissioner of crown lands 1858-1862.
