Pop. 105. In Ellice T., Perth C. on C. Rd. 135, 16 km NW of Stratford. The place is shown on maps as early as 1875.
The first settlers were Lutherans and their minister, Rev. Schaffarneck, named the place after Wartburg in Germany where Martin Luther was imprisoned for 10 months and employed his time translating the bible.
