- Pop. 2,995. Part of the City of Nanticoke, Reg. Mun. of Haldimand-Norfolk on Nanticoke Cr. and C. Rd. 24, 10 km N of Simcoe. Jacob Slaght settled in 1812, followed by a number of United Empire Loyalists.
- The place was fIrst called Avery's Mills for miller Paul Averill. When the post office was established in 1826, the settlement was named Waterford after a town in New York State from which some of the settlers had come.
