Pop. 188. In Simcoe C. on Hwy 93 and C. Rds. 23 & 27,15 km SE of Midland. The community was first called Bannister's Corners.
In 1858 postmaster Alexander Kettle renamed the place after the 1814 novel Waverley by Sir Walter Scott.
