- Pop. 439. In Monmouth T., Haliburton C., on Poverty L. at the head of the Irondale R. and C. Rds. 4 & 648, 26 km E of Haliburton.
- Isaac Ritchie and his sons were early settlers. The post office was established as Wilberforce in 1880. The name honours William Wilberforce (1759-1833), a philanthropist and statesman born in Hull, England.
- Wilberforce was a prominent anti-slavery crusader and an advocate of emigration.
