- Pop. 310. In Woolwich T., Waterloo C. on C. Rd. 23, 14 km N of Kitchener- Waterloo.
- From the late 1840s until 1854, the place was named Cox's Creek after an early settler. From 1854 to 1859 the community was named Woolwich after the township in which it is located.
- In 1859 Capt. William Lamphier renamed the settlement Winterbourne after his ancestral home ir Berkshire, England. 'Bourne' derives from 'burne,' a brook, and the name means 'a stream that flows only in winter' (or the wet season.)
