Description From Owner:
  • Bella Casara label Cheese.
  • Milking a water buffalo is easier than you think. The animal produces milk that is high in fat and protein and very easy to digest.
  • Martin Littkemann and Lori Smith are red Angus farmers who looked at water buffalo as a way to increase their farm’s income. They now own the first water buffalo milking operation in Ontario.
  • These innovators have established protocols to develop an Ontario water buffalo milking industry that could one day supply national consumer demand.
  • They have landed a contract to supply a specialty cheese factory in Toronto, and plan to market their buffalo meat to high end restaurants. A great example of niche marketing that is paying dividends.

2 months ago If you're searching for top-notch buffalo products, Martin and Lori's Water Buffalo Farm is the udder-ly best place to go. As a dedicated customer who orders their creamy buffalo milk and succulent steaks every other week, I've become something of a buffalo connoisseur. Martin and Lori are like the dynamic duo of the buffalo biz, making sure each drop of milk and cut of steak is better than the last. Seriously, their buffalo milk is so good, you'll be saying 'moo-re please!' And the steaks? They're so tender, you'll be tempted to serenade them before every bite. Trust me, Martin and Lori have turned buffalo farming into an art form – they're simply the cream of the crop!

I visit couple of times a year to buy mozzarella and other goodies. Noticed non gmo Buffalo milk butter so got that a well as usual mozzarella x 2 tubs. The taste and texture is unequaled. Greeted this morning by a friendly cat that would not leave me alone; I did give him a lot of loving... one of the buffalo's came up to me to say hi!

Love the self guided tour you can go through. Definitely suggest some shoes that can easily wash off in the mud! Their gelato was amazing for the children and had an Easter theme with mini eggs in them when we visited.

This place was such a nice treat! The gelato and the milk are a must-try! Super creamy and delicious! We also tried their honey garlic pepperettes - lean and flavourful! The water buffalos were aplenty and the place is organized by age group, with informational displays. The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly. Great stop on the way from Bancroft to Peterborough!

We had such a great morning visiting the farm! We went up check out the store front products and got so much more! A full tour of the farm. The buffalo were so gentle and such amazing creatures to see up close! Very kid friendly farm. The store front sells buffalo meat and dairy products including gelato! As well as body products made from Buffalo milk! Great experience and a must do for the area! We will return for sure and tell all our friends and family! Thanks for a great morning water buffalo company!
