Pop. 50. In Maria T., Renfrew C. at the mouth of Bissett Creek at the Ottawa R., on Hwy. 17, 48 km SE of Mattawa.
The place is named after an early pioneer. In 1841 William Stewart and Alexander Grant constructed dams and slides here on Holden L., part of the Ottawa R. The post office opened in 1883.
