Pop. 184. On Manitoulin 1. on the S shore of West Bay off the North Channel of L. Huron and C. Rds. 540 & 551, 30km SW of Little Current.
Until recently the place was called West Bay. It was settled in the mid- 1800s when natives from Wikwemikong relocated here. M'Chigeeng (pronounced shih-geeng) means 'village enclosed by stepped cliffs. '
