- Pop. 80. In Brighton T., Northumberland C. in Presqu 'ile Provincial Park on L. Ontario, 11 km SE of Brighton.
- The French name translates as 'almost an island,' referring to the hook-shaped peninsula jutting into L. Ontario formed by the last of the great glaciers retreating from the L. Ontario basin 10,000 years ago.
- In 1787 the area was conveyed to the British by the Mississauga Indians. A lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula was built in 1840.
